When I began taking photos for my final photography project, my intention was to capture fire in all of its forms. In the pursuit of photos visualizing vibrance and heat from flames or smoke, I was immediately drawn to compositions in which fire was not the main subject, but rather a component of candid moments portraying care between people I love. That's when I realized my concept was overlooking one of fire’s most powerful characteristics, one that captures not only heat but also the beauty of human connection: warmth.

Whether it be physical or emotional, warmth has a deep impact on human experiences and interaction. While physical warmth is visualized through sensational moments like basking in bright sunlight or cozying up under a soft blanket, emotional warmth presents itself in forms of kindness and nurture. The physicality of warmth fosters an environment of security and comfort, but emotional moments like a family member’s soft embrace or a friend’s contagious laughter open this comforting space up to trust and connection.

The photographs included in my final series, Warmth, are meant to embody the convergence of physical and emotional warmth. By capturing moments of human interaction within the context of physical warmth, like my dad making me a drink in front of the fire or my mom caring for her great-niece while she cooks by the stove, my compositions could amplify the existing comfort and tenderness already conveyed by these individual moments. I believe my original concept was not abandoned but rather transformed into a deeper, more powerful idea demonstrative of the beauty of human interaction through warmth.
